APP DESIGN AND DATA VISUALISATION PROJECT
The brief for this project was to design an app prototype that allowed users to 'track the self', using data visualisation. Many of us have developed poor relationships with our money and income, either due to generational patterns or personal habits that we have developed with our modern lifestyles. Being able to experience money tangibly and emotionally is a human need, because it a component of finding purpose in our modern world. I designed this app to offer an alternative approach to money management, by centring personal values and introspection. Valued gives users the opportunity to view their money movements as representations of what they value and prioritise most, which is often overlooked, despite being the most central and underlying motive for spending and saving. The design for this app moves away from traditional ‘bank account’ structures, that display money as figures that we have no real connection to. Instead, visual and introspective language is used to rebuild this connection to value.
